I am about to enter my 40th year in clinical practice. My first 20 years in veterinary medicine I thought I was doing great medicine. My patients got better with my symptom management approach, but too often they relapsed, frustrating the pet parent and myself.
About 25 years ago there was a shift, and I began to see more complex chronic dis-ease like autoimmune, osteoarthritis and especially cancer. Conventional methods were failing to heal these patients and I soon learned the problem was I was not addressing the root cause of the dis-ease.
I embraced integrative medicine initially to heal my own horse when western medicine had nothing more to offer except euthanasia or retirement. I began to integrate everything I was learning to heal her to my small animal patients and the results were astounding, my patients were truly healing.
